Celine and Shays Wedding Invite
We were approached by a previous client with the opportunity to create a digital wedding invitation for Shay and Celine a project that quickly became much more than simply designing an invite.
As a heartfelt gesture for the couple, the vision was to create an elegant, garden-inspired digital experience that reflected the romance, intimacy, and atmosphere of their wedding day. Inspired by soft whimsical details and timeless elegance, the invitation needed to feel personal, immersive, and emotionally connected while still remaining clear and easy for guests to navigate.

The Vision
Rather than overwhelming guests with excessive information, the goal was to create a space that introduced people to Shay and Celine’s story in a way that felt intentional and beautifully curated. Every interaction needed to feel warm, seamless, and reflective of the couple themselves offering guests not only the practical details of the day, but also a glimpse into the feeling behind it.
At its core, the project focused on transforming a traditional wedding invitation into a meaningful digital experience, one that blended storytelling, usability, and emotion into a single platform.

The Challenge
Designing a digital wedding invitation introduced a unique UX challenge. Unlike a traditional printed invite that simply communicates a date and venue, the experience needed to balance storytelling, functionality, accessibility, and visual elegance within one seamless journey.
The platform needed to guide guests naturally through important actions such as RSVP submissions, venue navigation, accommodation details, schedules, and dress code information without making the experience feel overwhelming or transactional.
Most guests would interact with the invitation from their phones, so of course the experience was designed mobile-first while maintaining consistency across devices. Clear navigation, intentional layouts, and simplified interactions became essential in keeping guests on a smooth and intuitive path from the moment they opened the invitation through to RSVP completion.
Our Approach
With the guest experience at the center of the strategy, the focus was on designing an invitation that felt effortless, elegant, and emotionally engaging from beginning to end.
The visual direction combined refined garden-inspired aesthetics with soft and clean elements to reflect the atmosphere of the wedding itself. Typography, colour palettes, transitions, imagery, and layouts were intentionally selected to create a cohesive experience that felt romantic yet modern, elevated yet approachable.
To bring a greater sense of intimacy and storytelling into the platform, personalised elements were woven throughout the experience, including:
The couple’s story
Photography from their engagement shoot
Notes for the guests
Personalised form submissions for RSVP
Alongside the emotional storytelling, usability remained a key part of every design decision. Features such as RSVP forms, accommodation details, schedules, and dress code information were carefully structured to make navigation feel simple, clear, and visually seamless.
The RSVP process itself was intentionally simplified through clear calls-to-action and streamlined interactions, allowing guests to move through the experience quickly and effortlessly without confusion or friction. A good example of this is keeping the RSVP CTA Button on the top pane for quick navigation or simply RSVPing, if the user lost their path.
More importantly, the project became an opportunity to explore how thoughtful UX design can extend beyond traditional business or e-commerce spaces. By combining storytelling, interaction, and accessibility, the invitation became more than a website, it became a digital extension of the wedding experience itself.
The Outcome
The final experience successfully balanced emotional storytelling with intuitive functionality, creating a platform that felt both elegant and easy for guests to engage with.
Feedback highlighted how seamless and immersive the experience felt, particularly on mobile devices, while still maintaining the warmth and sophistication expected from a wedding invitation.
Guests were able to access important information quickly, RSVP effortlessly, and experience the atmosphere of the wedding long before the day itself arrived.
Beyond the project itself, the experience reinforced the importance of intentionality within UX and digital design. Every decision from visual hierarchy and navigation to storytelling and interaction played a role in shaping how users emotionally connected with the platform.
Celine “I had my electronic wedding invite made by Hashtag Strategize, and Casey made the whole experience so effortless and stress free! She’s professional, quick to respond and incorporates all information so beautifully. Thank you so much ❤️ we can’t wait to share the invites with our guests.”
Final Reflection
The Experience of an Invitation became more than simply designing a wedding website. It became an exploration into how thoughtful design, storytelling, and user experience can shape meaningful digital interactions around life’s most personal moments.
By balancing usability with emotion, simplicity, and storytelling with functionality, the project demonstrated that good experience design exists far beyond products or businesses, it exists anywhere people seek connection, meaning, and memorable experiences.
For Hashtag Strat, the project became a strong example of how digital experiences are no longer limited to traditional websites or e-commerce platforms. Instead, they are increasingly becoming spaces for storytelling, connection, celebration, and shared moments. Even if its an invite to a special occasion.
